[Fanfic] Someday....
2012-11-26 09:24 amPairing/Group: Main character is Mifune Kengo. No Pairing but mention of Kazuma and Ryosuke
Rating: PG
Warnings: A bit twisted plot...
Summary: Kengo finally find his long lost mother but....
Notes: It seems a bit uninteresting fic but just enjoy it..
Living with a bunch of people who are not blood-relations is such a pain. Each year spent, out of the last 13 years taught him enough to be a good rebel. Yes, his foster parents are nice. They treat him nice enough with all the things he needs to grow up. Going to a reputable school, learning useful skills, he has them all. But deep down inside, he always has that small hole. A hole which only one person can cover. Nevertheless, he never knows if he has the chance to meet that person. He hates her. He hates her for leaving him in the middle of nowhere, just to be picked up by two strangers. He hates her for not attending his kindergarten graduation day. He hates her for not witnessing his victory in a Kendo competition back in his primary school time. He hates her for not sharing his joy of joining the boxing club. Yet, he misses her. He misses her every time.
“Mifune-kun,” A familiar voice snatches him off his long daydream. Mr Sakaki has already stood behind the guy in a plain white tank top.
“That feeling….it comes again?” Mr Sakaki knows this is not the first time his trainee student sitting beside the ring alone, staring at the blank space.
“Eh? No. I’m just…tired…,” Mifune grips his gloves with his teeth and pulls them open. He puts them in his backpack before slowly getting up and walking towards the locker.
“Well then. I’ve something to tell you,” Mr Sakaki isn’t sure if this is the right time to tell his student about the news he received minutes ago but he knows that this is the thing Mifune has been searching for these past few months.
“What is it, coach?” He closes the locker door slowly before having a sit next to his coach. Mr Sakaki is the reason he is in the team. That teacher is the one who picked him up from the dark world he’d been sinking into, a year ago. He owes that tall guy a lot.
“I received a phone call from a hospital nearby,” Mr Sakaki inhales a deep breath before continuing his words.
“They said, a middle-aged woman was sent to the hospital. She’s suspected as your mother.”
Mifune stares at his admired coach for a second or two before finally standing up and slowly entering the boxing ring.
“Mifune-kun?” Mr Sakaki follows the tanned boy while trying to look at his face.
Mifune keeps up with his steps until he reaches the other end of the ring. Leaning against the rope, he had his face down, blankly staring at the floor.
“Kengo? Are you alright?” Mr Sakaki approaches the boy. He could rarely see the face but he notices a few drops of crystal fluid flowing from the boy’s eyes.
“Finally……” Kengo’s stuttered voice is vaguely heard by the coach.
“What is it?” Mr Sakaki slowly puts his hand on his student’s shoulder.
“Finally, I can meet her, coach. I can see her. I can tell her what a bad mother she is. I can…..” His tears are flowing rapidly down his cheeks.
“Kengo….if you don’t wanna meet her it’s ok. I know how painful you are after she left.”
“No, coach. I want to meet her. I want to see the face of the woman who made me who I am today.” Kengo pulls himself to stand back.
“We’re going now.” He’s already picking up his stuff and heading towards the door.
“Are you sure?” Mr Sakaki takes faster steps to follow the student.
“100% sure.”

His heart is beating fast. Faster than when he is at the boxing practice. Faster than when he was told that he won the Kendo competition. Now, the woman that he has always wanted to see is right in front of him. What’s this feeling? Angry? Sad? Happy? Disappointed? Kengo can’t even describe what’s happening inside his heart for now, but the only thing he knows is, his prayer has finally been heard, somehow.
“Mifune-kun. This is Mrs Sayako.” A 40 years old woman with short black hair is sitting on the white covered bed, staring blankly at him.
“She’s your mother, Kengo.” Mr Sakaki slowly pushes his student to go nearer but his body is stiff. He’s not moving even an inch.
“Mother, huh? Does she really know what a mother is? Is she deserved to be called that? Mother…. makes me sick!”
“Kengo!” Mr Sakaki feels that his student goes a bit too far by saying that.
“If this is my mother, then I wish I wasn’t born at all.” Kengo begins to make his step out of the room before a hand grasp his arm, pulling him back in.
“I know you’re upset now. I know she did a lot of bad things to you. But could you just listen to what the doctor wants to say?” Mr Sasaki proposed, because he wants Kengo to at least know about the woman’s condition.
“What? That she’s here now just because she’s been dumped by a man? And gone mad before committing a suicide? Well she deserves that.” He smirks before noticing that the woman is still staring at him.
“KENGO! You’re going too far,” Mr Sakaki feels heated inside but he somehow manages to stop himself from hurting his student.
“Doctor told me that your mother was found by a stranger in the middle of the park. She seemed to be in trouble. According to the doctor, your mother might be sick. She doesn’t remember who she is, where she lives and where she comes from.”
“That’s an interesting story to bluff. I’m not buying it.”
“Hmmmphh….I know it’s hard for you to accept this. But the only reason she’s been brought here is because of this.” The doctor hands over a photo. It was Kengo’s face on the photo.
“The stranger might know you that he brought your mother here.” Mr Sakaki continues explaining.
The room is deadly silent for seconds.
“Kengo, I think she tried to find you.” The boy crosses his arms and looking down at the floor while being told so.
“But why now, coach? Why not 10 years ago? 5 years ago? Why now, after I put all my hatred to her.”
Kengo slowly walks towards the bed. As he reaches the side, Sayako backs off a little before carefully looking at his face.
“My son?” The woman reaches out her hand and gently put it on the boy’s cheek
.
“Yes, it’s me. Welcome home, mom.” Kengo can’t hide his feeling of missing his mother anymore before pulling the woman into his arms. His tears are flowing onto the woman’s shirt. Mr Sakaki smiles as he knows Kengo is not as stoic as he may seem to be. He’s a good person after all.

“Are you sure this is the place?” The blonde hair boy looks at his friend with a confused look.
“I’m sure the man just now showed me the right place. He was the one who brought her here.” The boy in a complete high school uniform scratches his head before combing his long dark brown hair back to normal.
“But, why hospital? Shouldn’t he send her to the police station?” The friend asks while looking at his phone.
“Let’s go inside and check if it’s true.”

Kengo is busy peeling an apple for his long lost mother. And the woman can’t stop smiling while looking at him.
“Don’t look at me like that, mom. I know I’m not good in doing this kind of work.” He cuts the apple into four pieces before handing over one to Sayako.
“You cut your hair a lot.” Sayako runs her fingers through Kengo’s hair before slowly sliding her hand down to rub the other’s cheeks.
“And you lose weight quite a lot as well.”
“I’m a junior boxer now. Long hair doesn’t fit the image and I can’t even do this job if I’m fat.” Kengo lets out a small laugh before feeding himself with another apple piece.
“I miss you.” Sayako takes Kengo’s hand into hers and slowly kisses it.
“I miss mom a lot too,” he stands up and puts a soft gentle kiss on the woman’s forehead.
Outside the room were standing two 17 years old boys. One is staring straight into the room, angrily. His blonde hair friend squeezes his hands. He can feel the other’s hand getting heated.
“Excuse me. You’re in the way.” They are interrupted by a voice, asking them to move aside.
“Err…sir.” The long hair boy voices out.
“Yes? What is it?”
“The boy in the room, who is he?”
“Oh, that’s my student, Mifune Kengo. Do you know him?”
“And the woman?”
“Oh, well…that’s his long lost mother. They only met again yesterday. May I know what brings you here?” Mr Sakaki looks at both faces.
“Err…nothing. Thank you, sir.” The long hair guy quickly runs towards the exit before his fellow follows his steps.
“Kazuma! Wait up.” He grabs his friend’s arm when they are outside of the building.
“Hey, stop! Kazuma!” He tightens his grasp to stop the other.
“Let go of me!” He pulls back his arm and accidentally hit the other’s cheek.
“Ryosuke…I’m sorry.” He touches the other’s cheek to check if he left any mark.
“It’s ok. I’m alright. Kazuma…. Why are you running away?” Ryosuke’s eyes are set straight into the other’s.
“I…I don’t know. I just can’t help but to feel mad….” Kazuma bends down before squatting on the floor and cups his face. He can feel the heat on his own face.
“Why? Don’t tell me that you think your mother is having something with that young guy…”
“No….It’s not that. It’s just…” The taller boy takes a breath before facing his best friend.
“Few days ago, I saw my mother staring at the newspaper. It was that boy’s face.” Kazuma still remembers how his mother behaved one morning after looking at the small news cut.
“You think your mother knows him?”
“Ryosuke, in these few years, my mother kept calling me with a wrong name. But I couldn’t catch the name. But just now, I’m sure she called me ‘Kengo’ before.” Kazuma lays his back against the wall before
stretching out his legs. Ryosuke starts to cross his legs beside his long known buddy. He knows Kazuma since they were 6. They fought a lot. Well, they still fight now. Ryosuke knows Kujo family very well, so does Kazuma. They often sleep at each other’s place now and then.
“Are you really sure? Maybe she called a different name. Maybe it was just your imagination.” Ryosuke tries to calm his friend down. He doesn’t want Kazuma to feel troubled. He doesn’t want Kazuma to return
to his old grumpy self anymore.
“Of course I’m sure. It’s not the only time she did that. In fact, you remember the man said that he heard she said she wanted to find her son. Am I not her son, Ryosuke?” Kazuma is confused with all the
things he hears from the stranger. But he thought that was because the disease that his mother has.
“Come on, Kazuma. You know how your mother’s health condition is. She might forget you today and remember back the day after. She even thought I was her son, remember?” Ryosuke still remember how Kazuma’s mother held his hand and dragged him to the dining table as if he was her real son. But Kazuma was there, laughing at the scene. Ryosuke knew he enjoyed that, seeing Ryosuke turning into a shade of red because of embarrassment.
“That….is different. I think she only teased you that time. But you were quite cute that day, giving a helpless look at me.” Kazuma throws a small giggles as he sees Ryosuke beginning to pull that face again.
“Oi! We’re not talking about that day now.” Ryosuke punches his friend’s arm lightly. Kazuma really loves to tease him and that’s exactly what makes Kazuma special to the other than anyone else.
“So, what are you planning to do now? I’m sure we can’t get the perfect answer for this if we just go there asking your mother.” Kazuma nods his head several times, agreeing to what Ryosuke says.
“I think I’ll go see the doctor. Maybe he can provide us with some explanation.” Kazuma grabs his bag and quickly stands up before pulling Ryosuke’s hand to help him stand up.
“Thank you. Let’s go.” Ryosuke walks behind the impatient boy.

“So, Kujo-kun. You are saying that you are her son? Sayako’s son?” The doctor looks at both of the boys’ faces before starting to feel a bit confused.
“Like I told you before, she disappeared from our house 2 days ago when I was in school. None of my neighbour noticed that.”
“Hmmmpphh….that’s weird. A man came and sent Sayako-san here, saying that she was holding a photo of Mifune-kun. Plus, she said that she wanted to see her child. Since the man knew Mifune-kun, he asked me to call Mifune and came over. But…” The doctor can’t stop staring at Kazuma’s face and start wondering if Sayako had made some kind of mistake with the photo.
“What is it, doctor?”
“Sorry to say this but your face really looks like Mifune’s. Except, Mifune’s hair is shorter and he’s quite thin.”
“Ha?” Kazuma doesn’t understand the doctor. How can he looks the same with that boy? He simply assumes that, though he actually didn’t get to have a closer look at the other’s face just now.
“Do you mind to come along with me? To see your mother and Mifune?” The doctor thinks this is the only way they all can find out the truth.
“Eh?” Kazuma looks at Ryosuke before receiving a nod from his friend.
“Well…I guess we all need to know what happened, right?” He slowly follows the doctor’s steps to the room where his mother and the boy were just now. Deep inside his heart, he feels a bit sympathized for Mifune. But, if it’s true that Sayako is Mifune’s real mother and not his, how shall he feel? How will he accept the fact that he has been living with a stranger for all these year?
“Ryosuke…” Kazuma whispers to his friend before stopping him.
“What is it? You feel nervous?” Ryosuke can clearly tell how his buddy feels right now, just by looking at Kazuma’s face. Sometimes, he feels that Kazuma is so easy to read. He’s transparent. Or, more like, he’s a bit immature.
“I’m thinking… what should I do if Mifune is really my mother’s child? I mean, what if, I’m not her son? Where do I have to go, Ryosuke?” Kazuma is totally has no idea of his future ahead him. He doesn’t have
any relatives, or siblings.
“You can stay with me. I’m sure you don’t mind sharing my room.” Ryosuke chuckles as he sees Kazuma’s face turning red.
“I’m serious now.”
“And I’m not? Kazuma, don’t feel that you have nobody. I’m here, you see. I’ll always be here. But, can you stop being so negative? Maybe your mother just misunderstood about this circumstance.” Ryosuke pats his friend’s shoulder before continuing with his walk.
“But…I feel sorry for Mifune too. Didn’t he lose his mother years ago? And, how will he accept if that’s not his real mother? Just a silly mistake done by the doctor?” He can’t, and never want to imagine how
Mifune can accept all this.
“I think Mifune is better than you in facing this kind of situation. He’s mature, as what I can see.”
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
“Mifune-kun, Sakaki-san. I’m sorry to interrupt but we have a situation here.” The doctor carefully looks at the faces in the room after knocking the door.
“Oh, doctor. What is it?” Mifune seems happy as he holds a spoon full of rice to feed his mother.
“Kujo-kun, you can come in.”
With a slow pace, Kazuma enters the room. Everyone in the room are shocked to see his face.
“This can’t be true….” Mr Sakaki looks at both faces in turn before shaking his head for a few times.
“This is Kujo Kazuma-kun. He’s here because he knows Sayako-san.”
“She’s my mother.” Kazuma points his finger towards the lady on the bed before walking towards her.
“No… you must be joking.” Mifune stands up to block Kazuma from getting nearer.
“Mifune, patient.” Mr Sakaki pulls the short hair boy and makes sure he will do nothing bad to the other.
“I know you’ve been searching for your mother all these years but this is my mother, Mifune-kun.” Kazuma holds his breath and tries to make some nice words so that he won’t hurt the other.
“Boys… can we settle this down in a good way? Maybe we can ask Sayako-san what happened.” The doctor approaches the lady who for now looks so confused.
“Sayako-san… do you mind telling us what happened?”
It takes a few minutes before Sayako points out her finger to the necklace wore by Kazuma.
“I bought that necklace and put it on him by myself.” The necklace with a gold pendant craved ‘Kujo’ was her present to her son on his 15th birthday.
“Wait! But you said you wanted to find your son, right? And you even have my photo.” Mifune shows the photo Sayako held when she was brought to the hospital yesterday.
“I… I thought I lost Kazuma. Kazuma left home and didn’t come back until evening. I thought he ran away.”
“I never run away, mother. I was at Ryosuke’s place. Didn’t you remember I told you that?” Kazuma did tell his mother that he would go to Ryosuke’s place straight from the school. But that evening when he reached home, he found that his mother was not in the house anymore.
“I thought you ran away because I scolded you.” Sayako’s tears are flowing on her cheeks as she gets out of the bed and pulling Kazuma right into her arms.
“No, mother. I’m here. I was worried about you.” Kazuma kisses her forehead before hugging back his mother.
Slowly, Mifune steps backward. He never thinks this will happen. He never expects not to see his mother again. As he turns himself to step out of the room, he hears someone calling his name.
“Mifune-kun, wait.” Kazuma is walking fast towards him.
“I’m really sorry about what my mother did to you. I’m really sorry that she’s mistaken you as me.” Kazuma bows his head several times but he knows that won’t make Mifune feels better. Mifune does not turn to face the younger boy. He can’t. He is too confused and lost to even force himself to fake out some polite action in response. He doesn’t want the other to see him crying.
“It’s not your fault, Kujo. I should’ve been more careful rather than just accepting this. I guess, it’s because I miss her too much. I’m at fault because I never know how my mother looks like but yet, I was
easily claimed that she’s my mother.” Without looking at Kazuma’s face, Mifune tries not to sound so pitiful. He doesn’t want Kazuma to feel bad about this.
“I hope you will find your mother soon, Mifune-kun. She might be searching for you too.”
“That’s why I aim to become the champion of this boxing sport. So that she can see me in television, magazines, newspapers. Like how your mother found me.” Mifune put his training bag on his shoulder before walking out of the room. He knows, someday his mother will come to him. Someday.

Date: 2012-11-27 01:01 pm (UTC)I don't mind mistakes but... Isn't taisuke's name "kazama" in misaki no. 1? Iya~ just wondering since haven't watched the drama in such a long time.
However, the story is very very well written. I've also never thought that misaki no 1 and risou no musuko can be combined into one crossover. You are indeed a genius!
I can't wait for your other fics.

Date: 2012-12-01 07:36 pm (UTC)So...I like your fic. There are a lot of feelings in it and it is really hard to choose sides...since Kazuma and Mifune are both Taipi >< Well, I of course feel sad for Kengo. He is searching so desperately for his mother. It must have been like a kick in the stomach when he found out he had been mistaken for Kazuma. Poor boy. He is suffering so much.
But I can't help but be also glad for Kazuma...I mean, he truely loves his mother and was quite shaken when he heard about what had happened. He also has Ryosuke by his side. I love how loyal you wrote him, just like in the drama. He will be for always by his side.
I hope Kengo finds his happiness in one way or another some day. He deserves it...
